Voyeurism

Examples of Voyeurism in Music Videos
What is Voyeurism?
‘Voyeurism is the sexual interest in or practice of spying on people engaged in intimate behaviours, such as undressing, sexual activity, or other actions usually considered to be of a private nature.'
Music videos can use Voyeurism. Mainly male singers who have a branding that is related to a ‘masculine ego’ use girls in there video as a accessory too boost there image. On the other hand female singers also use the idea of ‘Voyeurism’ to gain and maintain a male audience using themselves as a ‘sex symbol’, there dancers or even use a man as a shirtless accessory just like male singers do with females, although it is less likely.

For example – Timbaland ft Pitbull ‘Pass at Me’ represents the singers as wealthy and powerful by using a large boat as a platform for performance. However the dancers which are female wear bikinis and exploiting clothing. They use sexual innuendo's in there video and the camera work is rarely on the females face but instead on there bum and boobs. As there are so many of them in ratio to the male performers, and the type of clothing and the little differentiation between the girls it represents them as sexual beings rather than unique individuals. This gives the audience a false interpretation of how females should be treated in society, which is particularly dangerous to the younger most influenced age groups.
